Composer Ingebjørg Vilhelmsen has been nominated for a prestigious Norwegian Music Publisher Award.
The nomination in the International Progress category recognises her, "strong and growing international presence" as her music continues to grow in popularity and critical acclaim across the brass band world.
Prominence
Her work first came to prominence in 2023 at the Norwegian National Championships in Bergen, where her composition 'The Cosmographic Mystery' was heard. It has subsequently been performed in North American, Australia and France.
The composer gained further recognition in 2024 as she was voted 4BR 'Newcomer of the Year'.
Significant impression
Following this, 'Embracing Duality' made a significant impression as the set-work in the Challenge Section of the 2025 European Championships in Stavanger, subsequently being used as the First Division set-work at the Belgian National Championships.
'Headland Fantasy' has been used as a set-work at the Dutch and Swedish National Championships, whilst 'Radioactive Discoveries' was the set-work for the Championship Section at the Swedish Championships in 2024, alongside 'Pegasus' (Second Division).
Her entertainment concert work, 'Nil Poi' inspired by British entries to the Eurovision Sing Contest was performed at the 2025 Brass in Concert Championships by Carlton Mian Frickley Colliery Band.
International profile
