Kippax hand out their gongs

Some very fine people picked up some well deserved awards at the Kippax Band Club — one for a fantastic 50 years of service.

Kippax

The Kippax Band's Christmas concert at the Kippax Band Club took place recently, where the Band Club was packed and enjoyed a band programme which suited all tastes.

MD trouble

The Band did however had to endure more MD trouble before the concert took place. Colin Hardy had prepared the band for the previous week and was due to conduct. However he was unfortunately taken ill at the last moment, but fortunately Alan Morrison took up the baton and guided the band through a successful evening.

The kids were very excited to be there and hopefully enjoyed their first experience of the Band ClubDavid Jackson

Awards

The concert also saw the yearly presentation of awards, where 10 year Service Awards were presented to Anita Morrison, Tracey Sillito and Paul Wilkinson, whilst a 50 year service award was presented to Keith Fairburn.

The Bandsman of the Year award went to David Jackson.

First members

David Jackson told 4BR: "We also introduced the first members of the Youth Training group to the audience. The kids were very excited to be there and hopefully enjoyed their first experience of the Band Club. We are sure it wont be long before the give us their first concert there too!"
