Black Dyke to premiere film soundtrack of HMS Hampshire loss

There will be an unique chance to recall the tragic story of the loss of the World War One warship HMS Hampshire as Black Dyke provides a live film soundtrack to new short film in Shirebrook next month.

Kitchener
Black Dyke will provide the live soundtrack accompaniment to the film which will be premiered at the concert.

It has been announced that Black Dyke's forthcoming concert appearance at Shirebrook Leisure Centre on Saturday 15th October will now also feature the premiere of the specially commissioned film 'The Final Journey' — the remarkable story of the loss of HMS Hampshire during the First World War in which nearly 700 men lost their lives — including Secretary of State for War, Lord Kitchener

Evocative score

The world premiere of Paul Lovatt-Cooper's evocative score was made in Leeds in June — 100 years to the day that the ships was sunk by a German mine.

Bolsover District Council which commissioned the work, has now linked up Absolute Video Productions, alongside Junction Arts and Frederick Gent School to produce a highly moving film edited by Martyn Harris, which will now been shown at the concert with Black Dyke giving a live soundtrack accompaniment as the images are broadcast on multi-media screens to the audience.
