The death has been reported of the singer who enjoyed pop hits in 1970s accompanied by the Hanwell Band and Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
The death has been announced of pop songwriter and performer Peter Skellern. He was aged 69 and had been suffering from terminal cancer.
Skellern shot to fame in 1972 with his hit song, 'Your a Lady' which featured in its accompaniment both a choir and the Hanwell Band. The record got to number 3 in the British charts and the top 50 in the USA.

It also spawned a curious cover version featuring Bridget Bardot — although unfortunately Hanwell didn't play on that.
He later enjoyed further success in 1978 with 'Love is the Sweetest Thing' which featured Grimethorpe Colliery Band.
