Hardy heads to wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen

Fairey tuba player Chris Hardy will be the latest high profile brass band export to make a home in Denmark.

Fairey in action
Chrsi Hardy will now head from the North West to Copenhagen

Chris Hardy, solo BBb tuba player of the Fairey Band will be making his mark in Europe next year when he moves to Denmark.

After seven enjoyable years with the North West band, the 23 year is moving to Copenhagen to further his professional work career. After performing in Denmark many times over the years, and with strong connections already established there he now feels the time is right to make the move.

Amazing country

He told 4BR: "I will of course miss the band an incredible amount, as they have supported me a great deal since I joined. I have been performing in Denmark for a number of years now and it's a truly amazing country.

The Lyngby-Taarbæk Brass Band are a wonderful and talented group and one I look forward to joining. It isn't the last time I will be in the UK though as I'm sure my Bolton roots will continue to bring me back on a regular basis."

Chris is the latest high profile player to opt for Danish musical life with performers such as Preben Johansen, Adam Rapa, Huw Thomas and Birthe Carlsen already enjoying their banding there.

I'm proud to have played with Fairey during such an exciting time for the band, but it's time to look to the future and to see what an emerging brass band culture has to offerChris Hardy

Look to the future

Chris added: "I'm proud to have played with Fairey during such an exciting time for the band, but it's time to look to the future and to see what an emerging brass band culture has to offer.

The Danes are mad about bands, and show massive enthusiasm for the movement. The prospect of being able to perform in Denmark is something I've wanted to do for a very long time."
